I thought my stick insect had died, but it moved?

I thought one of my stick insects had died, as it was on the bottom of the cage, but clinging onto a twig. I took the twig out and the insects legs started moving around. Could it still be dead or is it alive? I read somewhere that stick insects' legs can still move when they are dead. It has turned the right way up now though... HELP.
