Is it alright if my fantasy novel starts out slow?
I'm writing a fantasy novel about a group of Questers searching for a God-Being in order to stop an evil group of Questers from reaching the God first. It's told in first person by the leader of the Questers, however the first novel will be mainly about them gathering more Questers and training to go on the Quest. The novel starts slow, with the narrator awaking in bed with a prostitute, leaving, meeting two curious twins at the inn he lives in, and then meeting his friend at the city square, where the action actually begins. Is this an alright opening or is it too slow?
